Intel is certainly not going to let AMD have anything for free. It now seems that Intel will move up the launch of X38 to one day before AMD unveils its next generation server processor based on the Barcelona architecture, which means that X38 will be unveiled on September 9. However it is just a change of date, the boards are still not expected to arrive in stores in any kind of significant supply until the mid of September, when ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte are all expected to have boards with both DDR2 and DDR3 available, in some cases even with the same board. Rumors of the performance of the now working boards are starting to circulate and they are indeed positive, very positive.
