Samsung SH-S203N is the latest device to bring the write speed of DVD burners up another notch. Samsung's new burner can write DVD+/-R at 20x speed, which is probably as fast as it is going to get with the DVD format. With the increasing interest for high definition media, the DVD format is probably closing in on its retirement and even if many of us will keep using DVD media for many years, the speed will probably not go beyond this point to any extent worth mentioning. Samsung SH-S203N has a 2 MB memory buffer and the lot more convenient SATA interface.
The complete read/write specifications are as follows;
DVD+R 20X,
DVD+R DL 16X
DVD+RW 8X
DVD-R 20X
DVD-R DL and DVD-RAM at 12X
DVD-RW 6X
DVD-ROM 16X
CD-ROM 48X
CD-R 48X
CD-RW 32X
Samsung SH-S203N is already available in stores and costs around $30.
