Rumors of a new spin of the RV670 core have started to circulate. This new A12 spin revision would be purely for optimization and would "only" result in higher frequencies. AMD is planning to introduce faster and improved cards, most likely an even faster Radeon HD 3870X2 (not the rumored GDDR4 version) to fill the void until R700 and RV770 start making appearances. The lackluster GeForce 9800 isn't scaring AMD, especially not now that CrossFireX is paving the way for its new multiGPU approach. Cards sporting A12 chips are expected May-ish.
