Diamond Radeon HD 3870 1GB tested
Written by Andreas G 04 April 2008 12:05

Diamond has been so kind and sent us one of its new Diamond Radeon HD 3870 1GB card. Just the fact that it sports 1GB RAM instead of the regular 512MB makes it stand out, but what really caught our attention was the fact that it is claimed to sport 512-bit memory bus instead of the reference 256-bit. The relatively narrow bus of most RV670 and G92 cards is a common complaint among many, whether it's justified or not is something we will look at here today. We've updated our recently published roundup with the just released Diamond HD 3870 1GB and Diamond Radeon HD 512MB.

"But, Diamond has managed to squeeze in 1GB memory, which no other HD 3870 has, but then we haven't even touched the biggest news yet; the 512-bit memory bus. The 1GB version has eight memory chips, but we're not sure how that adds up to 512-bit."
