It may not surprise you that much that both 8800GT and 8800GTS 512MB will be moved directly over to the GeForce 9 series quite soon. They are both based on the G92 chip, but different revisions of it. According to Expreview, the rarely seen GeForce 8800GS will also transition to the GeForce 9 series, but will be downgraded to mid-range and named GeForce 9600GSO. Since performance is behind 9600GT, it seems like the right thing to do, but it's still based on G92 and has 32 more shaders than 9600GT, 96 vs. 64. We will have to wait and see if it will be upgraded with a new PCB and power circuitry like the rest of the GeForce 9 series.
