Foxconn BLACKOPS X48 released
Written by Andreas G 22 April 2008 12:52

Foxconn has moved in on the retail market for motherboards and showed some real interest in pleasing the needs of enthusiasts and overclockers. Especially as it decided to hire renowned overclocker Peter "Shamino" Tan as technical adviser. Foxconn recently announced its most extreme enthusiast motherboard so far. Foxconn BLACKOPS is the name of the motherboard, based on Intel's X48 chipset.

This chipset supports Intel's latest processors with up to 1600MHz FSB, 8GB dual-channel DDR3 1600MHz memory, which is backed up by three PCIe x16 slots for some CrossFireX action. I.e. beside the rest of functions and features Intel's latest chipset sports.

The things that separates BLACKOPS from other motherboards on the market, is the amount of accessories that comes with the board, solely dedicated to overclocking. First of all, we have the Quantum cooler, which is marketed as a 4-in-1 chipset cooler. It sports everything from completely passive and water cooling to liquid nitrogen! Everything you need is in the box!

"BLACKOPS includes a range of accessories designed to provide additional convenience and performance enhancements for overclockers. In addition to the 4in1 Quantum Cooler accessories (which include a NB fan, extension tower for LN2 cooling and water cooling block), BLACKOPS owners will also receive variable resistors for volt-modding,the Quantum Lap motherboard tray for convenient workbench access to all parts of the motherboard, and the Quantum Flow kit – which improves airflow around installed VGA cards. The Quantum Flow fan can be installed in a horizontal or vertical position, and lowers temperatures around multi-VGA rigs by around 5ºC."

Foxconn has designed a unique motherboard for the extreme enthusiasts overclockers. More than a few overclockers have already shared information about the new board, but the rest of you will have to wait until the end of the month.
