We earlier reported that the first card of the new R7x series family would use GDDR3, and according to the launch schedule we've seen, it's going to be RV770 Pro which is going to hit the streets first, I.e. in late May, contrary to previous stories. GDDR5 testing have gone extremely well, but there is still some time before the DRAM manufacturer can supply AMD with enough chips, which means that RV770 XT will have to wait until July, or late June at least. As we've mentioned in the past, AMD/ATI has mastered the 55nm node and the yields are good, very good. AMD is literally pumping out chips now.
