AndreYang takes 40,000 in 3DMark 05
Written by Andreas G 15 May 2008 20:49

AndreYang is one of those guys you can always rely on going that extra mile. He's been at it again and this time he was aiming to break ground with the older 3DMarks. Just because 3DMark Vantage launched a while back, it doesn't mean that others will disappear. On the contrary. Like most of the most recent 3DMark 05 records, this one was with a pair of Radeon HD 3870X2 graphics, which were still using the stock cooler.

He was able to push the graphics cards to 891MHz on the cores and 1071MHz memory clock. While the graphics cards were still air-cooled, the CPU was not. Our favorite liquid [nitrogen] was used to bring the temperature to many degrees below zero and allow for the frequency to reach 5.866GHz (12.5 x 469MHz). The motherboard was the proven ASUS P5E3 WS Pro, based on the Intel X38 chipset.

His best posted result so far is 40,149 points, but evidently he is still at it. According to Kingpin, he's broken 40,400 points, but the system cold-bugged on him and he was unable to submit the score.
