Seagate is the world's largest harddrive manufacturer and it's been a leading innovator for some time. Last we heard, Seagate would launch its first flash memory Solid State Drive (SSD) this year, but in a recent interview with PCWorld, CEO Bill Watkins said that Seagate will introduce its first SSD for the enterprise market next year, but added that while SSDs are fast, they are still far too expensive for the consumer market. In three to four years maybe, SSDs will become more cost-competitive and a real option to mechanical drives. He also revealed that Seagate will unveil a 2TB next year. A doubling of the current top capacity of today.
