Auzentech unveils Auzen X-Fi HomeTheater 7.1 - HDMI audio combo card
Written by Andreas G 24 June 2008 22:02

Auzentech has unveiled another sound card based on the X-Fi sound processor with more than a couple of new features. Auzen X-Fi HomeTheater 7.1 has native HDMI 1.3 (HDCP 1.1) support and can output lossless audio multichannel audio through the HDMI port. Auzentech has also blessed the card with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio encoding capabilities, which it then can output through the single HDMI port. The card has both internal and external connectors for accepting video signals, although the internal connection is exclusive for newer NVIDIA graphics cards.

"At Auzentech we focus on bringing innovative products to market by listening to our end-users requests," said Stephane Bae, President of Auzentech, Inc. "By teaming up with Industry leaders Creative, NVIDIA, CyberLink and Silicon Image, end users and home theater enthusiasts will now be able to enjoy Blu-Ray or HD movies in their full glory."

The card has all of the regular X-Fi features, such as the EAX 5.0 support for the latest gaming effects. Auzentech hasn't specified the components but the specification list tells us a dynamic range of 114dB A-weighted for the analog outputs and 102dB for the analog inputs. The THD + noise for the inputs is reported to be 0.001% and 0.003% for the outputs. Complete specifications HERE.

Since ASUS has more or less declared war on Creative and X-Fi, and has been very specific with its choice of components for the Xonar sound cards, it would be nice to know what Auzentech has chosen to use. Especially as its last X-Fi card was praised because of its better choice of components, compared to Creative's X-Fi cards.
