NVIDIA ForceWare 177.39 beta with PhysX support
Written by Andreas G 27 June 2008 23:21

As you may have noticed, NVIDIA has managed to get the physics acceleration rolling with its latest GeForce cards and the first beta driver has been released, which let regular users try out the new support. ForceWare 177.39 beta is available for both 32/64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows XP. Currently, only GeForce 9800 GTX, GeForce GTX 260 and GeForce GTX 280 support PhysX, but NVIDIA is expected to broaden the support within the near future. There are also modified .inf files circulating that adds support for more G92-based cards.

Except from the driver, you get NVIDIA's PhysX software which is required to activate the physics acceleration. NVIDIA points to a map pack for Unreal Tournament 3 that contains maps specially developed for people with a PhysX accelerator. The new beta drivers can be fetched from NVIDIA's website. Do note that the recently launched WHQL driver (ForceWare 177.41) lacks PhysX support, despite the higher version number.
