MSI Wind with 6-cell battery coming soon
Written by Andreas G 04 September 2008 20:10

MSI Wind got a good reception on the netbook market and the larger 10" display pressured ASUS and its Eee PC family, which resulted in Eee PC 1000H, which uses a similar 10" screen. MSI has not been able to take advantage of being early with a 10" model on the market since there have been some serious supply issues. The reason, according to MSI, was because it was not on the priority list at Intel and even if Intel has a decent capacity, the job of supplying everyone with Atom systems will be a mighty on in the future.

MSI Wind U100 is finally starting to become a more common sight in stores and one of the few major complaints has been the battery time. The 3-cell battery enables up to 2.5h of battery time with MSI Wind, which is a bit weak when ASUS has equipped most of its Eee PC models with 6-cell batteries capable of up to 5 hours of battery time.

MSI has listened to the consumers and we now know that a new version of MSI Wind U100 will appear within a month. The new model sports a 6-cell battery and even though the price hasn't been set yet, MSI is expected to add about €30.

The new 6-cell battery will also be available as an upgrade for those who want to improve the battery time of their older model, or simply get an extra battery to carry along just in case.
