Niveus Storage Server - Cargo Edition: Serious Windows Home Server with 16TB storage
Written by Andreas G 05 September 2008 21:56

Niveus Media is one of the more high-profile Media Center system manufacturers and it has been building impressive systems for the wealthy for many years now. Earlier this year it launched the new Storage Server series which offered a respectable storage capacity of up to 4TB. Today we can't say that 4GB sounds especially impressive, but to remedy that, the Storage Server family has been blessed with some new additions in the form of a couple of Cargo Edition models.

The new Cargo Edition series offers up to 16TB of storage, which makes it possible to store your entire Blu-ray movie collection on your Niveus Media server. The harddrives are from the Seagate Pipeline HD series, specially designed for media center systems and high definition video.

Storage Server Cargo Edition comes in a U3 rack-mounted case and if you want more than "just" 16TB you can add more servers in a modular upgrade for unlimited storage, the only thing stopping you is the size of your wallet.

The software used by Niveu Media is supplied by Microsoft in the form of the Windows Home Server operating system. Niveus Storage Server - Cargo Edition is expected to appear in the fourth quarter and we neither know nor want to know what the thing costs, sometimes it's just best to live in denial.
