Smooth Creations announces Slice netbook
Written by Andreas G 09 September 2008 19:25

Smooth Creations sent us a press release we were not expecting. Smooth Creations has namely launched a netbook with its own personal touch. The focus is of course on mobility and power efficiency with an Atom 1.6GHz processor under the hood, 100GB harddrive and 1.5GB G.Skill memory under the hood. We're glad that Smooth has not cheaped out on the display but chosen to go with a 8.9" panel. Unlike most netbooks, Smooth also offers an option of Vista.

The name Slice comes from the fact that the laptop is thinner than two slices of sandwich bread. Smooth Creations offers customization options and of course personalized designs. The design seen below the quote was suggested by the daughter of a corporate executive and not the design you will get by default.

"These custom painted “Slice” netbooks are not your run of the mill colored notebooks. Smoothcreations utilizes high grade automotive finishes, clear coats – we work close with Sikkens and Glasurit to make special poly carbonate finishes that ensure the paint finish is durable and resilient. Our competitors use colored injected plastic molds to their chassis to give it a quality like paint finish", says Mario Gastelum.

Slice is available directly from NCIX and SmoothCreations.com in various fix configurations. Custom designs, configurations and upgrades are available via Smooth Creations.
