Gyration Air Music - motion sensor remote with LCD display
Written by Andreas G 10 September 2008 20:28

Gyration is an accessory manufacturer that have focused on the use of gyro technology with its products, where you will find everything from mice to keyboards and remotes. Its previous creation for the remote control market was called Gyration Media Center Remote and was showered with praised, not the least because of the Wii-like gyro technology that made it possible for the remote to act as a wireless mouse through simple hand motions. Gyration has now launched a new remote control models called Air Music Remote and even if the base concept is the same there is one big update that caught our attention.

Gyration Air Music Remote comes with a 1.75" LCD display that may not be the hottest one around, but it adds a new feature. The blue LCD can be used to show your music library from Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center or Apple iTunes.

Together with the RF transmitter you will be able to control the music playback from a Media Center PC without a monitor, you don't even have to be in the same room. This is extra interesting for those who use a projector for the HTPC, which you don't want to turn on just for something like switching songs, or if you simply want to save power and not turn on your monitor or TV.

It remains to be seen how well the integrated support of the new Air Music Remote works, but together with the gyro technology it should be an interesting alternative for anyone who is looking for a new media center remote.

It would be even cooler if someone decided to add Windows SideShow support in combination with Gyration's gyro technology, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.
