Acer aiming to claim 50% of the netbook market next year
Written by Andreas G 03 November 2008 18:59

Acer has every reason to be positive before next year when it comes to its netbook sales. The sales have skyrocketed and the Aspire One has been a real bestseller. Now that it is looking ahead we can't help thinking they are a bit too optimistic. Acer isn't just planning to dethrone ASUS and Eee PC from the netbook throne, and even do so with a hefty margin. Acer believes there will ship up to 30-35 million netbooks in 2009 and it intends deliver up to 50% of these machines.

Even if Acer has a good foundation, more or less all system builders are involved in the netbook market today and we have a hard time believing Acer can grab 50% of the market, if it doesn't find a new way to the top and bring out a perfect netbook that will stand out.

We will cover Acer's plans and its actual progress, which we're certain we won't be alone doing...
