Mac OS X vs. Ubuntu 8.10 benchmarks
Written by Andreas G 06 November 2008 20:30

Earlier this year Ubuntu and Canonical headman Mark Shuttleworth made a bold statement claiming that Ubuntu will outshine Apple's OS X in the near future. Ubuntu would offer a desktop experience that would be even better than what Apple would be offering its users. While we're still waiting for that to happen, Phoronix has posted a performance comparison between the two. Ubuntu 8.10 and Mac OS X is tested with similar hardware to see which is the faster. In most benchmarks they are pretty even, except in gaming where OS X outpaced Ubuntu by a large margin.
