Xbox 360 hits 25M, price cuts helping
Written by Andreas G 26 November 2008 21:00

Xbox 360 was the first of den of the current generation of video game consoles to enter the market. Doing so made it possible for Microsoft to build a foundation of users before Sony and Nintendo launched their competing models, PlayStation 3 and Wii. Even if the competition has been overwhelming for the last year or so, Microsoft is hoping that the second generation Xbox will do better than the first. Xbox sold fairly well, especially since it was Microsoft's first attempt to make a video game console. There is really no denying that the Xbox 360 has done better.

Microsoft had calculated on shipping 25 million Xbox 360 at the end of November, but has managed to the the goal earlier. Why they were homing on 25 million is because the first Xbox shipped 25 million units.

In other words, Xbox 360 has surpassed its predecessor in the sales while it still has a long time left to live. One of the biggest reasons for the increased sales of Xbox 360 is the price cuts Microsoft has issued, which has pushed Xbox 360 in front of PlayStation 3 in the sales in Europe.
