CPU Cooler Stabilizer K8/AM2 replaces standard mounting systems
Written by Andreas G 21 December 2008 16:20

Processor cooler increase in size and weight as the lighter aluminum is replaced by the more efficient although much heavier copper. Some coolers weigh as much as 2 kilo and considering gravity you will need either a strong heart or a great sense of denial to be able to sleep at night. Cooling manufacturer Scythe has now launched its CPU Cooler stabilizer K8/AM2. It is simply an extra mounting bracket for better cooling and a more stable mounting. The kit has previously only been available to Socket 775 users, but now also AMD users can go to sleep without worries.

Scythe's press release after the break;

Scythe cooler with mounting kit for AMD Sockets: CPU Cooler Stabilizer K8/AM2 replaces standard mounting systems

With the CPU Cooler stabilizer K8/AM2, the Japanese cooling specialist Scythe Co., Ltd. unveils a practical system for mounting coolers on the AMD Sockets AM2/AM2 + and 939. With the CPU Cooler stabilizer AM2, all Scythe coolers can be mounted more safely on compatible mainboards. The Back Plate / Screw solution weights only 126 g and is ideal for all users who would like to give a more stable mounting to their CPU coolers. The stabilizer is made of high quality materials and comes with a back plate which has to be mounted on the back of the mainboard.

The Scythe CPU Cooler Stabilizer AM2 offers a more solid combination between processor and cooler than normal brackets and improves the heat conduction. Due to its high compatibility with current AMD sockets (AM2, AM2 + and 939), this kit is a solution not only for users of Scythe coolers, but also for coolers from third-party manufacturers.

The CPU Cooler stabilizer is a consistent further development of the popular universal retention kit. Supplied accessories include the following: Back-Plate, retention module, insulation washers, mounting screws, thermal paste and wrenches

The Scythe CPU Cooler K8/AM2 stabilizer is now available for 6.90 Euro + VAT / US$ 11.50 + TAX. For Intel Socket LGA775, a compatible CPU Stabilizer is already available.
