By the end of 2008 XFX confirmed that it will be making graphics cards based on AMD's ATI graphics circuits. XFX are apparently ready to launch its first Radeon-based graphics cards as pictures of the first two cards have appeared and they do reveal some interesting surprises. XFX has moved away from the reference designs and used a somewhat different black PCB paired with a specially designed cooler.
XFX Radeon HD 4870 seems to be using the AMD reference cooler, but with a new cover designed by XFX. The Radeon HD 4850 card has a completely new cooler that has been designed in-house by XFX especially for this card. It will also be used for the entry model of the 4800 series, XFX Radeon HD 4830.

Both cards are expected to appear in just a few weeks and the prices listed by German e-store Alterante.de indicate that XFX is going to put the cards at a good price/performance ratio.
