Windows 7 available to the public
Written by Andreas G 11 January 2009 12:55

Windows 7 has now reached the first official beta stage and Microsoft has put up the operating system for public download. Anyone can go in and download the software giants' new and promising operating, as long as any of the 2.5 million downloads Microsoft will limit to is available (there are alternative download sites). We have been covering the progress of Windows 7 and the overall impression is that that Microsoft have been working hard on making it what Windows Vista should have been from the very beginning.

It may sound a bit boring and point less to do this with an all new operating system, but the fact remains that many are saying that Windows 7 is better and faster than Windows Vista. Microsoft's development of Windows 7 has been going so smooth that the first beta is said to be surprisingly stable. It is still beta so there are no guarantees.

Read on about Windows 7 at Microsoft's TechNet Evaluation Center.
