FireDTV/FloppyDTV gets Windows 7 support
Written by Andreas G 16 March 2009 20:37

Windows 7 has become quite popular even though it is still just a Beta. Windows 7 brings numerous updates for Media Center and the HTPC users have embraced it almost completely. It's not just the tweaked interface but also the underlying functions. Several of these are for the Digital-TV support in Windows Media Center. One of the most popular digital-TV-tunes (for PCs) is Digital Everywhere's FireDTV and FloppyDTV.

It has now released the first official Windows 7 drivers for its TV receivers. The drivers support both FireDTV and FloppyDTV no matter the signal (DVB-C, DVB-T and DVB-S), both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. The drivers are branded beta but the first reports show that they work very well. The only thing you have to think about is the FireWire driver of the operating system.

"Microsoft designed a whole new 1394 driver for Windows 7, unfortunately it has two known bugs that depending on Release Candidate, among others, results in problems for Fire/FloppyDTV users, with is in mind we recommend that you switch to the ”Legacy 1394 driver” that comes with Win 7.  - Janne from TystPC.nu

Those of you who are eager to test Windows 7 can at least be certain that there is support for Digital Everywhere's TV receivers, although beta.
