iPhone OS 3.0 brings MMS, copy/paste and a lot more
Written by Andreas G 19 March 2009 20:25

Apple has unveiled its coming update for the iPhone operating system. iPhone OS 3.0 is in no way a revolution, but with claimed over 100 new functions it is certainly an update worth waiting for. Apple has most importantly corrected some rather embarrassing limitations. Among others, OS 3.0 can copy/paste text between applications, something that has been high up on many's wish list. The one thing that even more people have been asking for is MMS, an almost laughable limitation.

Those who only use text messages or send a lot of e-mails can now compose their heartfelt messages in landscape mode, which together with a new search function will make the iPhone even more userfriendly.

iPhone OS 3.0 also brings better Bluetooth support (A2dp) that enables the phone, but also iPod Touch, to use wireless stereo headphones but also connect to each other to play against a friend or foe.

Apple has also improved the third-party developer support with 1000 new API instructions for the new operating system. This means that Apple hopes to increase the 25,000 applications Apple already has in the iTunes Store.

Apple iPhone OS 3.0 will be made available this summer and even if its free for iPhone 3G will run you $9.99 if you want to update your iPod Touch to the same level of usability.
