Seagate to announce 2TB hardrive soon
Written by Andreas G 02 April 2009 22:10

The harddrive market is still dominated by numbers specifications since you can't move away from the fact that a harddrive with higher data volume can store more data than a harddrive with less capacity. This is something Seagate has had to experience with its otherwise good Barracuda 7200.11 model with 1.5TB storage, which has had a tough time to catch the interest of the consumer after Western Digital launched the first 2TB harddrive shortly afterward.

It has been said that Seagate has grown tired of being in the shadow of Western Digital and within a month it will launch its own 2TB desktop harddrive. Just like WD, Seagate will use 500GB platters to achieve a total capacity of 2TB. The question is if people can really afford these monster harddrives, but we assume that there are people out there who still need more storage for their movies, music and vacation pictures.
