PowerColor brings liquid cooling to the HD4890 series
Written by Andreas G 08 April 2009 20:52

PowerColor is currently one of the more active graphics card manufacturers when it comes to AMD's new Radeon HD 4890 graphics card. Yesterday we told you about a coming model that would use a non-reference design, with a new PCB, higher clock frequencies and new cooling. It has now announced a water-cooled model called PowerColor’s LCS HD4890 and it comes with a water block from EK. The graphics card sports higher frequencies on both GPU, 900MHz, and 1000MHz memory (4000MHz effectively) and the price will be $339 when it arrives in about a week.

Press release after the break;

POWERCOLOR BRINGS LIQUID COOLING TO THE HD4890 SERIES PowerColor’s Liquid Cooling Solution (LCS) makes its way to the HD4890

Taipei, Taiwan – April 7th, 2009–TUL Corporation, a leading manufacturer of AMD graphics cards, announces a new custom liquid cooled solution for the HD4890 series. The PowerColor Liquid Cooling Solution or LCS, will be available on the most powerful single GPU graphics card from ATI. With EK Water Blocks cooling solution, PowerColor’s LCS HD4890 provides an exceptional thermal performance in a single slot design, enhancing gaming performance in a cool and stable operating environment.

PowerColor’s LCS HD4890 has a full water block mounting on the card, fully covering memory and power regulator chip. With copper based design, it is able to reduce temperature up to 20°C compared with reference version. Furthermore, the PowerColor package includes high-flow 3/8" and 1/2" fittings (barbs) to maximize water flow with captured o-rings to prevent leakage. Gamers can easily build up their own liquid cooling system using these two fittings.

“PowerColor created the LCS line to meet the needs of the most extreme gamers. The most demanding gamers need a cooling solution that can keep up with their demands,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation. “We know not all enthusiast gamers are created the same. That’s why our LCS line is the most flexible VGA liquid cooling solution on the market.”

Compatible with all essential features, the PowerColor LCS HD4890 allows gamers to maximize core and memory speed to 900MHz and 1000MHz (4.0Gbps), enhancing the overclocking ability to its optimum stability and delivering the ultimate gaming performance.

The PowerColor LCS HD4890 is retailed at USD$339, and will be available on April 16th.
