The development of the General Purpose GPU technology has had a great impact on the Folding@Home project since today's graphics circuits are perfect for these kinds of calculations. This is of course something many of our Patrons use to their advantage and overall has enabled NordicHardware F@H to climb the rankings at a steady rate. All of our contributors should feel mighty proud of what they are doing, but the project Jason Farqué, also known as Atlas Folder, has started is really something out of the ordinary. Jason has namely built a folding farm that houses no less than 23 GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards.
That makes 46 of the world's fastest graphics circuit combined to supply the Folding@Home project with calculating power. Jason's personal goal is to help finding a cure for Huntington's disease, something which Jason's father Tony suffers from.
The least to say powerful folding farm is one of the greatest private contributors to Folding@Home with close to 270,000 Points Per Day. On a sidenote it would cost around $11,500 to buy 23 GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards in a regular store, but then you also need the remaining hardware to run them.
