We earlier told you about how Intel had shipped thousands of 32nm processor samples to partners and OEM manufacturers. These processors are not intended to leave the company labs, but as usual not everyone can keep a secret and not spread the news. Asian overclocker JCornell has managed to get a hold of Intel’s desktop model, Clarkdale, sporting dual cores and HyperThreading support and meant to take over the mid-range segment when the Intel 32nm platform arrives.
The processor JCornell has come across operates at 2.4GHz (133MHz x 18) and comes with 4MB L3 cache, on top of the 256KB L2 cache for each core.
Processor is still largely unknown to verification software Core Temp and CPU-Z. Using GPU-Z he confirms that there is an integrated graphics circuit using 32MB RAM, but that’s about it.
A benchmark in the form of SuperPi 1M has been posted and there Clarkdale completes it in just 18.125 seconds. That’s about 10% faster than current Core 2 processors at the same frequency.
Now we need some good 3D benchmark and overclocking results with Intel’s coming Core i5 processor.
