Crotale and ME4ME finish third at GOOC2009
Written by Andreas G 21 April 2009 21:14

Gigabyte recently held the final of the Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship and after several qualifications around Europe the final was held in the Czech Republic. Our own hope was resting on the shoulders of Robert "Crotale" Kihlberg and Henry "ME4ME" de Kruijf. Robert, three-fold champion of the Swedish Computer Performance Championship, together with gifted overclocker Henry managed to grab a very prestigious third place, after the Belgian and Polish teams.

The benchmarks consisted of 3DMark06 and SuperPi and the hardware was as follows;

  • Intel Core i7 CPU
  • Intel® X25-M SATA Solid-State Drive (80GB)
  • GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P Motherboard
  • GIGABYTE GV-N26OC-896H-B Graphics Card*2
  • Kingston KHX16000D3K3/3GX DDR3 Memory
  • ENERMAX Revolution85+ 1050W Power Supply

With fifteen teams from all over Europe we can't say that we're disappointed with third place, on the contrary, We congratulate crotale and ME4ME for their impressive achievement. Robert is our resident overclocking and processor expert here at NordicHardware and more than established in the overclocking community, but ME4ME is guaranteed to return to the spotlight many times over in the future.

Robert AND Henry chasing better scores in GOOC 2009

We grabbed Robert for a comment on the competition;

NH: You just got home from the Czech Republic and the European final of GOOC, how was the competition and are you happy with what you achieved?

Robert: It's always fun to meet up with people of our kind and really test the limits of the hardware. Like earlier events the time constrictions forced you to plan ahead and strategize your benchmarking. We are pretty happy with out result even if we know that we can do better. If you go into detail and really study the scores you will see that there was room for improvement in some benchmarks.

Thanks to Jon "elmor" Sandström, this year's champion of the Price/Performance category of SCPC2008, we have a bunch of pictures from the event. Elmor is directly qualified to the final of GOOC in Taiwan after winning last year.
