Terminator Salvation previews Apple's mobile game plans
Written by Andreas G 05 May 2009 20:03

Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch both sport relatively power hardware and several game developers have already shown how to use this to turn an iPhone/iPod into a portable game console. Gameloft is one of them. It has now released a preview of its new game Terminator Salvation for iPhone and iPod Touch. The graphics is hardly revolutionizing but considering it's a game made for a mobile phone and media player it is still kind of neat.

Apple has a very capable platform with iPhone and iPod Touch. At the same time Terminator Salvation feels like just a preview of Apple's plans for its portable gadgets, which you can compare to Gameloft's regular mobile version of the game.

The perhaps biggest weakness of Apple's hardware platform is the graphics circuit. Fitting as it just hired Bob Drebin from AMD, formerly a high executive of ATI, with responsibility for strategy and design of graphics processors.

Exactly what Bob Drebin will do at Apple isn't certain, but it certainly seems like Apple has some great plans for its coming iPhone/iPod platforms.
