ASUS EAH4890 Formula with F1 design influences
Written by Andreas G 03 June 2009 20:23

It's more common than not that companies and consumers compare computers and specifically computer overclocking to motor sports. Component manufacturer ASUS has done it many times, both with its Lamborghini notebooks and motherboards with Formula 1 traits. It has done it again with an overclocked version of AMD's Radeon HD 4890 graphics card.

ASUS EAH4890 Formula isn't just overclocked from factory, although not breaking the magical 1GHz, but also a special cooler described by ASUS as follows;

"Formula Series graphics cards are immediately distinguishable by the incorporation of a visually arresting, streamlined aerodynamic hood that is modeled after the sleek profile of a Formula One race car."

ASUS' specially designed cooler will be 33% more efficient than the reference cooler, while the dust-free fan will make the cooler up to 30% quieter. This is enough for ASUS to push the GPU clock frequency to 950MHz while the memory is stuck at the reference 3900MHz. Price was not revealed, but the card should appear shortly.
