Opera 10 Beta available
Written by Andreas G 08 June 2009 21:32

Opera 10 has taken the step into official beta and and raised the temperature of the browser war. Opera 10 brings several great news and among them are several performance improvement. Opera claims that its new Opera Presto 2.2 engine will be considerably faster than previous versions, especially with sites with a lot of pictures and information.

The Presto 2.2 engine makes it possible for Opera 10 to do a perfect 100/100 in Acid3, while offering support for functions like Web Fonts.

Opera Turbo will make browsing faster on limited Internet connections by compressing the data, perfect for the mobile phone or poor wireless connections.

It has also revised the interface of Opera 10 and with some help from designer Jon Hicks it has come up with a whole new and fresh user interface that offers some new graphical elements but also new functions. Among others a new tab manager than can be extended so that the tabs forms previews of the site in question, instead of just a headline.

Opera 10 brings loads of other nice functions and most of them can be found at the official website, where you can also download the latest beta.
