ASUS Maximus III Formula - pictures o'plenty
Written by Andreas G 15 June 2009 21:29

When Intel launches the Socket LGA1156 platform in the third quarter it will be in the shadow of LGA1366 and Core i7 that remains Intel's performance platform. With that said, it doesn't necessarily mean Intel and motherboard makers won't deliver enthusiast products for LGA1156 and Core i5. ASUS is one of the motherboard companies that has the most P55 motherboards in development and we have now acquired pictures of the flagship product, ASUS Maximus III Formula.

The motherboard is built on Intel's first LGA1156 chipset, Intel P55, which means dual-channel DDR3 and Lynnfield support. Even if we know little about the detailed specifications of ASUS Maximus III Formula we can tell a lot from the pictures, and we're sure enthusiasts and overclockers will like this one. Emphasized by the fact that it will be a member of the Republic of Gamers family.

The motherboard is equipped with low-profile passive heatpipe cooling and has four DDR3 memory slots and three PCI-E x16 graphics cards. The motherboard also has a pretty advanced power supply for best possible overclocking potential. More details will come later this week, so stay tuned. Until then you can enjoy the high-res photos below (click them).
