Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB with 64MB cache spotted
Written by Andreas G 23 June 2009 21:11

Western Digital was first to launch a 3.5" harddrive harddrive with 2TB capacity over the last couple of months it has expanded its product families to include more drives with record capacities. The next will be the Caviar Black series with a new 2TB flagship. Unlike the Caviar Green that already has a 2TB model in its program, Caviar Black focuses on performance with 7200RPM engine and dual processors with more cache.

Both Caviar Green and Caviar Black are available with 32MB cache but the new 2TB model of Caviar Black will double up to 64MB, which should improve performance even further.

The new model has already appeared in Japanese computer stores but when it will appear elsewhere is uncertain. The price will probably be a bit higher than the WD Caviar Green 2TB, which means $300 and higher should not come as any kind of a surprise.
