Last month Corsair launched two power supplies, Corsair HX850W and HX750W. They were branded with the attractive 80 Plus Silver certification for its high efficiency, but apparently Corsair underestimated the power supplies. It has now realized the power supplies are good enough for the 80 Plus Gold certificate, which is the highest rank there is today and very few models have it.
Corsair has measured the efficiency to over 87% at 20% load and 100% load, and 90% at 50% load, which meets the requirements for 80 Plus Gold.
Corsair hasn't updated the website with the new information but it will probably happen very soon since this is a real nice award for Corsair. It also sports modular cables and temperature controlled 140mm fan.
