MSI R4890 Cyclone reaches 1GHz
Written by Andreas G 15 July 2009 19:19

MSI was one of the first to reveal that it was working on an extremely overclocked version of Radeon HD 4890. The card dubbed Cyclone would sport 1GHz GPU clock frequency, just like completing models from Sapphire, PowerColor and XFX. While these companies have started shipping their cards MSI has been very quiet, until now. MSI has presented two new 4890 graphics cards of the Cyclone series and both are overclocked from factory.

Both models sport MSI Cyclone cooling, thus the name, that consists of a variable 100mm fan and 8mm thick heatpipes that keeps temperatures low even when the chip is overclocked.

MSI proudly boasts military grade components such as solid state capacitors, Hi-c capacitors and solid state coils.

MSI claims that both its R4890 Cyclone models can do 1GHz GPU when overclocked, but just the SOC model ships with this frequency.
