LG announces New Chocolate mobile with 4" 21:9 LCD
Written by Andreas G 01 August 2009 17:00

Mobile phone maker LG has launched a new phone, LG New Chocolate. It's a pretty unique phone with a oblong design, not entirely unlike a bar of chocolate. The phone is dominated by the large 21:9 widescreen 4" LCD. Thus the same format used by Philips Cinema 21:9 TV and the format most movies are recorded in. Even if LG Chocolate can play movies and videos it is said that the extra broad display will be an aid during regular use.

With 800x345 pixel resolution so you don't have to worry about spending time scrolling horizontally and a dual-screen interface that allows two applications to be shown right next to each other.

The wide HD LCD “Real VGA” screen provides a full range of natural colors for displayed images, making photos more crisp, videos more true-to-life, games more dynamic and documents more readable.

The New Chocolate comes from the earlier Chocolate phone, using the same black/red color theme. New Chocolate has a considerably wider display that we look forward to learning more about.

“Although much interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use.”

Other specifications worth mentioning include SMP camera with flash, a-gps, Wi-Fi, Turbo 3G (7.2Mps) and multi-touch technology.

LG's new mobile phone will launch in the third quarter and perhaps it has found a niche among touch phones with it's oblong look.
