Intel denies Atom Z disappearing
Written by Andreas G 05 August 2009 18:25

Budget oriented mini-notebooks, also known as netbooks, will become more diverse in Q4 as several new processor platform will launch. Intel Pine Trail with the new Pineview CPU will sport considerably lower power consumption through its integrated memory controller and graphics processor. At the same time as we have learned that Pine Trail was coming in 2009 we heard that the Atom Z series would disappear, which Intel now denies.

According to an official statement, the Atom Z series will not be removed, but remain on the market even after the year ends.

Whether this is to empty out any excess stock of Diamondville processors before Pineview takes over is hard to say, but the Atom Z series will stay around for longer than expected.
