Strong winds are blowing around Intel's Atom series of processors and last we heard the Atom Z series would remain on the market as the new Pineview-based Atom processors ha officially denied the Atom Z disappearing in 2009. With this confirmed by Intel it becomes hard to look away from the new rumors stating that Pineview and the Pine Trail platform may not come in before Q1 2010.
This would certainly explain why Intel said that the Atom Z series would remain in 2009. Atom N450 that will be the first Pineview Atom-processor will instead become the flagship beginning next year, and that is when the current Atom N series will start to fade out. This is unconfirmed as well, so don't bet any money just yet.
