QNAP Adds 2.5 Inch HDD Support To Its TurboNAS Lineup Of High Performance NAS Servers
Written by Andreas G 16 August 2009 16:27

QNAP Systems, Inc. a leading manufacturer of world class NAS servers, NVR video surveillance systems, and network-based video players for business and consumer markets today announced the support for 2.5" harddrives in the company's Intel-based Turbo NAS lineup of high performance NAS servers. At present, QNAP is the pioneering NAS server enclosure manufacturer to support both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives.

QNAP TS-439 PRo stödjer nu både 2,5-tums och 3,5-tums hårddiskar

The addition of 2.5" drive support gives users more drive choices at a time when there is a plethora of 2.5" hard drives available due to the softness in the notebook PC market. 2.5" hard drives designed for notebook PCs offer solid performance coupled with much lower power consumption and outstanding reliability. The new 2.5" hard drive support is designed into most of QNAP's Intel x86 CPU based models, including the TS-239 Pro, TS-439 Pro, TS-509 Pro, TS-639 Pro, and TS-809 Pro for flexible selection. 2.5" drives can also be used on the TS-809U-RP 2U rack mount Turbo NAS server with redundant power supply.

"QNAP is giving users more choices when it comes to drive selection" said Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, Inc. "Flexibility and lower power consumption are always welcome features for our customers" Mr. Chang added.

Availability
QNAP offers the broadest lineup of NAS server enclosures currently available. QNAP Turbo NAS series NAS servers are available in 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8-bay desktop (QNAP exclusive feature) and rack mount configurations to fit the needs of consumer, small/medium business, workgroups, and entry-level enterprise networks. QNAP NAS servers feature hot-swap removable cartridge drives throughout the entire lineup (2 bay above models), and offer unique features including iSCSI, dual e-SATA ports on Intel Atom-based models, and dual gigabit LAN ports with fail-over and load-balancing capabilities for all Intel-based models. QNAP NAS servers are ideal for simple website hosting, ultra-high performance RAID storage supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 5+ hot spare, stand-alone file downloading, network-wide backups, printer sharing, video surveillance, and a whole lot more. QNAP NAS servers are fully compatible with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX networks and incorporate green power management technologies
