Minimal energy consumption with W-LED technology – NEC MultiSync® EA222WMe
Written by Andreas G 13 September 2009 20:40

Munich – For the end of this year, NEC Display Solutions is announcing the new front-runner in terms of energy efficiency, environmental compatibility and cost-effectiveness. With the MultiSync® EA222WMe, the manufacturer is launching its first desktop LC display with White LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlight onto the market. Users in the SMB sector and corporate business in particular will be consequently able to enjoy an even greater product choice to match their individual needs.

After reducing the conventional four CCFL backlights to just two lights on the MultiSync® EA221WMe, NEC’s MultiSync® EA222WMe uses the even more energy-efficient White LED technology. This saves up to 50 percent energy compared to conventional TFT displays. All of the tried-and-tested eco features on the MultiSync® EA series, such as the Ambient Light Sensor for optimum screen brightness at all times, or the NEC One Touch Eco Button, round off the overall eco-package perfectly and guarantee excellent cost-effectiveness thanks to extremely low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

The 22-inch widescreen display is manufactured completely without environmentally harmful materials such as arsenic, mercury or halogens. EPEAT™ Gold (on the black version) and EPEAT™ Silver certifications bear testimony to the LC display’s excellent environmental compatibility. The display comes with latest TCO 5.0 certification and satisfies the criteria of the forthcoming Energy Star 5.0 label.

W-LED background illumination at a brightness of 250 cd/m2 guarantees excellent viewing comfort. For state-of-the-art digital connectivity, the MultiSync® EA222WMe features not only a DVI-D, but also a DisplayPort interface. Added to this is an adjustable height of up to 110 mm plus a pivot function for the required degree of workplace ergonomics.

“With this model, we’re bringing the 22-inch widescreen display with what is currently probably the most extensive overall package in terms of environmentally friendly features onto the market,” says Birgit Sommerer, Product Line Manager Commercial Displays at NEC Display Solutions, announcing the launch of the MultiSync® EA222WMe. “Thanks to innovative technologies, the monitor combines growing environmental awareness and the efforts to achieve greater sustainability among users with the outstanding quality characteristics of NEC.”

Availability

The NEC MultiSync® EA222WMe is expected to be available from December 2009 in black and white with a silver front frame.
