Memory and Solid State Drive manufacturer OCZ has announced a new series of DDR3 memories with energy efficient modules for AMD's Phenom II platform. OCZ Black Edition targets specifically AMD's Phenom II Black Edition CPUs and the OverDrive technology. The memory modules ship in packages of two with a total capacity of 4GB to make best use of the dual-channel memory controller.
The modules use 1.65V operating voltage and 1600MHz clock frequency, and using AMD Overdrive you can easily overclock the system and the memory for even better performance.
“The new OCZ Black Edition modules not only interact with AOD to overclock the memory, but also communicate with the BIOS to increase the frequency and performance of the memory controller. The result is a symbiotic relationship between memory and the rest of the system to unleash the full power of the Dragon Platform.”
It offers two kits with different timings, but other than that they are identical (CAS7 vs. CAS8). Prices and availability were not revealed.
