Microsoft releases Security Essentials antivirus beta
Written by Andreas G 29 September 2009 21:31

Microsoft and the word free are rarely seen together, but even Microsoft are starting to come to terms with its limitations. Microsoft has talked loud and proud about the security features of Windows 7, which is supposed to be its safest operating system yet. Despite all the talk it has also been working on better protection against harmful code, through Windows Defender.

As promised Microsoft has released the antivirus program Security Essentials, for free, to protect against dangerous code of all kinds and shapes. So far it is just a beta that is only available in USA, China and Brazil but if the tests go well the software should appear in other countries soon.

You're too busy to spend a lot of time worrying about protecting your PC. With Microsoft Security Essentials Beta, you get high-quality protection against viruses and spyware, including Trojans, worms and other malicious software. And best of all, there are no costs or annoying subscriptions to keep track of.

Security Essentials will very resource efficient and work perfectly with netbooks and less powerful machines, which could attract more than a few users, if the program delivers on the main functionality as well.
