TSMC is ARM's closest partner for manufacturing, and to many the given choice for manufacturing. The two have now designed a dual-core Cortex-A9 clocked at 3.1 GHz using the latest 28 nanometer HPM technology.

The big dragon in the east is relectant to import technology and most of all being reliant on technology developed outside of the country, not the least processors from Intel and AMD, but it's not easy to make such products on your own. China is now about to choose its own processor architecture, that will be used within the country - and it will not be x86.

AMD's upcoming generation of APUs that is called Trinity is only a few weeks away from launch right now. The advertising for the upcoming top model on the mobile side: A10-4600M reveal an increase in performance of around 58 percent compared to Intel HD 4000 in 3DMark 11.

The first consumer samples from Intel's new processor family Ivy Bridge is as we uncovered earlier being shipped with a TDP value of 95W. This is a well thought out strategy according to the processor giant, despite that the models which is being launched has a TDP value that never exceeds 77W.

Broadwell is still approximately two years in to the future, but when it arrives Intel will take another step towards the integration of all logics to one circuit. When they migrate to the 14 nanometer technology they will be able to place both the processor and the south bridge in the same package

NVIDIA Tegra 3 became the first quad-core system processor for smartphones and tables , or even five penta-core in a 4-plus-1 configuration. Tegra 4 will apparently follow down the same path, but this time with a lot more powerful processor cores.

Intel ha entered phase one of the launch of the new processor platform Ivy Bridge. Unfortunately it is without any processors from said processor family but instead the new 7 series chipsets that are ready. Intel launches Z77, Z75 and H77, which also supports Sandy Bridge.

While retail applications are not making use of all available bandwidth, the server industry is screaming for more bandwidth. Intel is expected to transition to DDR4 for servers in 2014 already, while the retail will have to wait for the year after.

AMD's coming Trinity architecture is not far off, and has now been benchmarked in Folding with a mobile version: A8-4500M. The processor performance is actually better than expected, even though we are dealing with Piledriver cores.

Intel will start to produce the first 14nm circuits in early 2013 in small scale, for internal tests, validation and troubleshooting for coming products. The manufacturing technology is expected to come first where it makes the most use - LTE/4G.

Qualcomm has quad-core system processors coming in the Snapdragon S4 family, mainly targeting tablets. Together with Windows 8 the company also targets Intel's ultrabook, and also the fact Qualcomm has revised the 64-bit support for the Snapdragon processors.

Ivy Bridge will launch April 29th, this is confirmed by leaked raodmaps from Intel. With brand new 22nm technology and 3D transistors Ivy Bridge is expected to raise the bar for CPU performance, while the maximal energy consumption will drop considerably.

During our visit at GDC we saw many familiar faces that we could relate to games, but you coudl tell the foucs was on the mobile. During a talk with ARM details were revealed about Samsung's Exynos 5250, and especially the powerful graphics circuit.

Intel has been forced to slow down the Tick-Tock strategy due to problems in the manufacturing of new processors at 22 nanometer. But it promises an aggressive way forward with the Atom architecture for smartphones and will be at 14 nanometer in 2014 already.

We started to doubt Intel in smartphones since Qualcomm Krait is just weeks from retail products. The company has now geared up and has announced a new system processor with two Atom cores, Hyper-threading and a graphics processor faster than Apple A5.
